Hi, I'm Lori!

I’m Lori, a Licensed Professional Counselor providing therapy in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. I also provide supervision for LACs in Pennsylvania and I am in the process of becoming an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) so I can extend my supervisory services in New Jersey LACs. I also provide clinical consultation, expert witness services, and professional training development and facilitation.
My background includes mental health treatment, addiction and recovery, co-occurring disorders, clinical leadership, supervision, and behavioral health education.
Those experiences influence the way I work today: with curiosity, flexibility, practicality, and respect for the fact that no two people arrive in therapy with the same story.
I believe therapy can be both clinically grounded and genuinely human. There is room for difficult conversations, insight, humor, questions, disagreement, and figuring things out together - all within a therapeutic relationship that maintains clear boundaries, purpose, and respect.
Underneath all of the theories, techniques, diagnoses, and clinical language that can become part of therapy, I believe the relationship still matters. People deserve to be treated with respect, listened to, and understood as more than a diagnosis or symptom.
Sometimes meaningful therapy begins with something very simple: an honest conversation.

Why this resonates with me
Therapy should adapt to you — not the other way around.
Beyond this foundation, my approach is eclectic and flexible. I draw from different therapeutic techniques and interventions based on what you need in that particular moment.
Sometimes the approach may be obvious - such as using the empty-chair technique from Gestalt therapy or working with an Internal Family Systems (IFS) card deck. At other times, it may be woven more subtly into our conversation through Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
Rather than fitting you into one specific therapeutic model, the goal is to use the approaches, tools, and conversations that feel most relevant and helpful to where you are right now.
I choose approaches based on what feels most relevant to you in that moment.
My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming, and I strive to create a space where clients of all identities, relationships, and family structures are treated with respect and without judgment.

Areas of Clinical Focus

I have also expanded my training and clinical competency in gambling addiction.
This allows me to combine years of addiction-treatment experience with additional knowledge specific to problem gambling and gambling-related concerns.

The majority of my career has been spent working with adults experiencing substance use disorders. My experience includes alcohol, opioids, cocaine, benzodiazepines, kratom, and many other substances.
I believe addiction is a brain disease and understand how difficult recovery can be. You will not find judgment or shame here for the things you may have done while struggling with addiction.

Mental Health and
Co-Occurring
Working in addiction treatment has given me extensive experience with a wide range of mental health conditions. I work with primary mental health concerns as well as co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
My particular areas of interest include depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Whether the concern is addiction, mental health, or a combination of both, treatment should begin with understanding the person—not just the diagnosis.
What You Can Expect From Me?
Honesty
I will be straightforward with you while remaining respectful and compassionate.
Curiosity
I ask questions because understanding the full picture matters.

Humor
Therapy can involve difficult conversations, but it does not have to feel serious every second.
Collaboration
I will bring clinical knowledge and perspective, but you remain the expert on your own life.

Outside the Therapy Room
When I am not working, you may find me playing adult recreational field hockey, at community choir, reading, watching a movie with friends, or spending time with the people and animals I love. (If we are in a virtual session, chances are a cat will make an appearance at some point.)
I believe therapists are people too - and that bringing genuine personality into the therapeutic relationship is part of what makes therapy feel human.
